Virginia Tech killingsJust read the papers this morning. The killer is South-Korean. Once I saw this episode from One Tree Hill where the story-line was also about high-school killings. But this show gave another perspective to these killings. The killer did not really want to kill his schoolmates. He only did so cos he felt rejected and bullied by so many people. True enough, this does not justify his killing. But think about it. Why would someone kill so many for no reason all of a sudden? He was rejected, despised and prejudiced against by other people - just because he did not fit into the cliques (the sport jocks, the popular cheerleaders, the science nerds etc). Think again from this perspective and you might find that the killer might be in a difficult circumstance after all. Especially in this Virgina Tech killing, the killer's South-Korean. Perhaps because of his race/nationality, he might have faced discrimination from the Americans? Everyone knows how high school is like in the US. Students gather in cliques for safety and comfort. The cliques as mentioned above. No one dares to walk out of the comfort zone to hang out with other people for fear of rejection by their own clique. Is there any way to break these boundaries? I guess college is the only probable answer. Seriously, if these issues are not going to be properly addressed/resolved, more killings are going to continue.
